Brothers
What is a Brother?

A Brother is a consecrated religious man who has dedicated his life to God’s service, sharing in the life and mission of his religious community. If a member of a clerical community, a Brother is one who chooses not to be ordained as a priest.

How can I become a Brother?

Each religious community offers programs to help men interested in religious life learn more about what it means to become a vowed member of a religious community.

The discernment process may include getting to know several communities, praying with them, visiting the local houses or headquarters, doing live-in experiences, and being companioned by the confreres (brothers) during this journey of finding out God’s call.

Once a prospective candidate is accepted in a community, his initial formation will include living and praying with the Brothers in a formation house from postulancy/candidacy, to novitiate, to temporary vows, then finally, to perpetual vows.
