Religious Priests
What is a religious priest?

A religious priest is a consecrated religious man who is also ordained to the priesthood. He is called primarily as a member of his religious congregation and takes the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. He may serve as a missionary, as chaplain, or even as pastor of a parish.

How can I become a religious priest?

Each religious community offers programs to help men interested in religious life learn more about what it means to become a vowed member of a religious community.

The discernment process may include getting to know several communities, praying with them, visiting the local houses or headquarters, doing live-in experiences, and being companioned by the confreres (brothers) during this journey of finding out God’s call. Some communities might require applicants to have finished college.  Also, further studies would be required for ordination.
