What is a Sister?
A Sister (also known as a Catholic nun) is a consecrated woman religious who has dedicated her life to God’s service, sharing in the life and mission of her religious community.
How can I become a Sister?
Each religious community offers programs to help women interested in religious life learn more about what it means to become a vowed member of a religious community.
The discernment process may include getting to know several communities, praying with them, visiting the convents, doing live-in experiences, and being companioned by the Sisters during this journey of finding out God’s call.
Once a prospective candidate is accepted in a community, her initial formation will include living and praying with the Sisters in a formation house from postulancy/candidacy, to novitiate, to temporary vows, then finally, to perpetual vows.
