Prepare your Heart and Mind for Sunday's Liturgy
Sacred Space: Daily Prayer Online
American Catholic: Daily Minute Meditations

Father of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, though we are sinners,You
call us to be His disciples and to engage in the crucial struggle of our
time: the struggle for faith, justice, and love.

Set aflame the hearts of others to join us in this mission, especially
the hearts of young women and men to join us as religious sisters,
brothers, and priests.

May we always encourage the People of God to listen to the promptings of the Spirit.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.  Amen.

Fr. Pat Fairbanks, SJ

+ Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam

God of the universe, God of all time

And all places.

You hold this planet earth

with loving attention.

You sent your son Jesus

to bring all people

home to you.

You call us to discipleship

and to communion

with you.

We pray for the gift of your

Holy Spirit

to teach us generosity of heart,

strength of will,

and joyous faithfulness

in response to your call

in all circumstances

of our life.

Your name be glorified.

Amen
Sr. Agathe, SSpS

My Gift

Lord, I freely yield all my freedom to you.

Take my memory, my intellect and my entire will.

You have given me anything I am or have;

I give it all back to you to stand under your will alone.

Your love and your grace are enough for me;

I shall ask for nothing more.

            St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556)

Jesus,

I know you love me

and have great plans for me.

Sometimes I am overwhelmed

by the thought of my future.

Show me how to walk forward

with you

one day at a time.

Give me the courage

to search openly,

explore all my choices,

listen to others

and pay attention to my own feelings.

By doing these things,

I will hear your call

to a life choice

that will let me love as only I can,

and allow me to serve you and others

with the special gifts

you have given me.

Amen.

I Am Ready…I Accept

Father, I abandon myself into your hands;

Do with me what you will.

Whatever you may do, I thank you:

I am ready for all.  I accept all.

Let only your will be done in me and in your creatures.

I wish no more than this, Oh Lord.

Into your hands I commend my soul;  I offer it to you with all the love of my heart,

For I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into your hands without reserve, and with boundless confidence for you are my God and my All.

                        Charles de Foucould (1858-1916)

Family Vocation Prayer

Loving God, each member of our family is a special gift from you. You have given each of us gifts and talents so that we may enjoy life but also so we can share with others. Generous and loving people are needed for service and leadership in our Church.

Help us to know how to encourage and support each other so that we can respond generously to this need. We know that you will be with us, invite us to become the kind of people you desire us to be. Help us to trust in you and in each other.  Amen.

The Road Ahead

My Lord God, I have not idea where I am going.  I do not see the road ahead of me.  I cannot know for certain where it will end.  Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following Your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.  But I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please you.  And I hoe that I have that desire in all that I am doing.  I hope that I will never do anything apart from this desire.  And I know that if I do this, You will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it.  Therefore, I will trust you always, though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.  I will not fear for You are with me and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.  (Thomas Merton, Thoughts in Solitude, page 83)

Prayer for Vocations for Parents

Loving God,

You have given us the privilege as well as the responsibility of being loving parents. In the name of Jesus, we ask you  to guide us as we invite our children to hear your call to service and leadership in our Church.

May our children respond with deep faith and generosity to the needs of God’s people.

Help us to be a source of encouragement to our children by our own desire to be committed people who serve with love and enthusiasm.       Amen.
